More playing with the Big Shot

I've been playing with my Big Shot again, can't believe I waited so long to get one!

I've seen a few different techniques and samples around and wanted to have a go myself with the dies and embossing folders that I've just bought.

This first sample is created by punching out several pieces of the gorgeous Sale a Bration papers with the Postage Stamp punch and sticking onto a piece of Whisper White card stock.  I used 4 different patterns and did 4 rows of 4 shapes.  Once dry I put this through the Big Shot with the Top Note die, I then put this through in the Square Lattice embossing folder.  I love it!

I can't believe how different it looks after being embossed.

I couldn't stop there, I don't know about you but inspiration comes from many places and this next play came after looking at my son's duvet!  Whenever I look at anything I automatically think of what Stampin' Up! colours they are.

And here's the duvet in question

Pretty similar aren't they!

This was created by punching out circles with the 1/2" circle punch and Crumb Cake, Island Indigo, Basic Gray and Pool Party card stock.  They were stuck down with trusty tombow and once dry this was put through in the Square Lattice embossing folder.  Very effective.

My next class is Saturday 10th March and I've decided to do a Big Shot class for my ladies, I think they'l love these techniques.

Card challenges & an award

It's my friends daughters birthday tomorrow and I wanted to make a card for her.  I've used Naturals Ivory card as my card base.  I've stamped the letters in Pretty in Pink and Wisteria Wonder from the Letter It stamp set.  The papers are the Flirtatious Designer Papers and the Patterns Designer Paper Series in the new In Colours punched out with the Postage Stamp punch which is fast becoming one of my favourites.  I hope it makes it into the next Main Catalogue.  Ribbon is the White Organza Ribbon which is really pretty and I've finished off the card with some cute buttons.

I try to enter challenges whenever I can as it gets the grey cells going!  So this card is for the following challenges:

Simply Stampin Colour Challenge - Melon Mambo, Wisteria Wonder, Pretty in Pink & Whisper White

Less is More Challenge - Punches or Dies

Sweet Stampin Challenge - 3 in a row - I've chosen Ribbon, Buttons & Spots

I've also been really thrilled to receive the Liebster blog award from Lisa at Dreaming of Creativity

For anyone that doesn't know, the Liebster award is given to inspirational blogs with less than 200 followers.

Liebster is a German word meaning dearest or favourite and the tradition is that I would pass on the award to 5 other blogs that have encouraged, inspired and motivated me. To accept the award here's what you need to do:

1....Thank the person who gave you the award on your blog
2....Link back to that blogger on your blog
3....Post the award to your blog
4....Pass on the award to 5 of your most valued blogs (less than 200 followers)
5....Leave a comment on those 5 blogs to let them know.
These are my five picks for this award.  I find each of these ladies very inspiring and wonderful, creative, crafty individuals.

Recent makes

Well I thoroughly enjoyed the home workshop last week, I've met some really lovely ladies that I hope I shall keep in touch with.  Jean the hostess did really well and earnt herself £40 in free products!

This is the card I made to say thank you to the ladies that placed an order.

It's using the Two Tags die for the Big shot in Island Indigo, a scallop circle of Pool Party card stock and the medallion from the Fresh Vintage stamp set (sale a bration) stamped in Pool Party ink and punched out with a circle punch.

I've been having a play with my Big shot this morning and found this tutorial on youtube and decided to give it a go.  Not bad for a first attempt!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend, the sun is out here :)

And here they are in situ.

I've got loads more planning and making to do so will check out everyone's desks later today.  Can't wait to see what everyone else is up to.

I {Heart} Hearts class Saturday 11th Feb

I've put the final touches to my class this Saturday, I'm really pleased with it and I think it's one of my favourite classes so far (and I've not even done it yet!)

Instead of the usual reds I'm going for Perfect Plum, Bashful Blue & Marina Mist which go really well together,  the Subtles family is my favourite colour way.

A square card using the I {Heart} Hearts set and the Outlined Expressions from the Sale a Bration book.

An A6 card using the heart stamp from the Perfect Postage stamp set in the latest Spring Mini Catalogue.

A DL card using the fabulously versatile Bird Punch.

Finally a decorated slimline notebook.

All of the cards above could be used for Valentines or Weddings or even just for a really fab friend!

Thanks for looking :)

WOYWW - What is on my workdesk?

I've never played along with WOYWW before but seeing as it's Wednesday well why not!

I indulged in a Big Shot recently, today I finally got it out of the box.  Think I'm getting old because the instructions could have been written in Russian!  The best thing to do was just to go for it, so I did!  It's actually really easy to use, I think I was expecting it to be more difficult.  This could be quite addictive :)

This is what I made first, it's using the Sizzix Embosslits Beautiful Wings Die, its not an original idea.  I've seen a few different versions of this but it was the first thing I wanted to recreate now I had the Big Shot myself.  I'm really chuffed.
